Fighting cancer is extremely difficult, but living with it over extended periods of time can be even tougher. Receiving the dreadful diagnosis of cancer opens the door to much hardship, and a variety of painful daily issues. There are a great number of support organizations and services that help address these issues, however until 2009, there was never an organization that provided support specifically tailored to the needs of the Israeli community.
Stand By Me was established in 2009 as a nonprofit organization with the intention of offering as many services as possible to cancer patients and their families within the Los Angeles Israeli community. Its services are based on the individual needs of each family, and are directed by the professional expertise of psychologists, nurses and social workers.
To date, Stand By Me has assisted more than 20 cancer patients and their families by paying for medical expenses, providing meals, transportation, childcare, counseling, companionship and more.
We at Stand By Me are proud of the amazing and ever-growing group of volunteers that carry out the endless tasks of making sure our patients receive the support that they so desperately need.
